Great Oaks College is a specialist independent college that caters for students aged from 19 to 25. We are co-located within Oaklands School, in a new state of the art, purpose built premises in Gresham Road, Hounslow, close to Osterley Tube Station and other public transport links.
The college provides further educational opportunities to post 19 students that have moderate, severe, and profound and multiple learning difficulties or autism. We run three Pathways, Life Skills, Vocational and Sensory. Our education programmes are designed to prepare students for active lives, increasing the opportunities available to them through increased independence.
We are looking to employ a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a student with autism who can display challenging behavior. We are interested to hear from you if you have an NVQ3 in a relevant subject and have previous experience supporting students with autism and severe learning difficulties in a specialist setting. You will be familiar with using specialist strategies such as Makaton, visuals, TEACCH and sensory diets. You will be able to build and maintain a strong relationship, deliver individual learning and support engagement in group activities, including within the community.
We believe that all of our students are capable of making outstanding progress and we want to appoint individuals who share our belief. Please refer to the job description and person specification for full details of the role and the skills/experience needed.
We offer a comprehensive Induction, Inset and CPD programme for our staff, a pension scheme and other wellbeing benefits including an employee assistance programme.
